I installed this unit four weeks ago for the first time, I had ordered it late last year trying to get an apartment ready for my daughter. Installation per the instructions went very well and the unit began to cool the 750sqft apartment quite well in the Economy mode.In less than two weeks, the unit quit working. The fan will blow however the compressor will not kick in or cool. I have had the wiring checked by an electrician and know there is no problem with the power to the unit. I am now faced with shipping this 120 pound item back to the factory at a cost of in excess of $150 if I want to have any warranty consideration. Not something I had hoped I would need to do with less than a month of use.What has happened to quality with product today?Update, 8 months later.The factory sent me a brand new unit after I returned only the plug. It has performed well since that time thru the entire summer in Dallas Texas with temps in excess of 100 for several days. So far this winter the heater portion of the unit has worked equally well.Based upon the new unit, I would increase my rating to at least 4 stars.Thank you.

I can't stand Soleus products. Get you a G.E. or Frigidare. Stay away from this company! I have had 3 products from them and all of them have failed within a year or two.
